Great Leads by Michael Masterson
Matt Baran got the six-figure corporate job.
The one you grind through school for. The one that's supposed to feel like the heavens parting.
Two weeks in, he hated it.
So he did what any self-respecting miserable corporate employee does —he went on Google and typed "how to make money online." What followed was over a decade of learning, experimenting, failing, pivoting, and eventually cracking something that most marketers never find: a YouTube ads system that generated his first $100,000 profit month almost by accident.
From Insurance Broker to Internet Marketer
Matt went to college, got his MBA, and worked his way up through the insurance industry before landing that coveted six-figure desk job. He quit almost immediately.
Somewhere in the early days of searching for an alternative, he found the AttractionMarketing.com community — then called Elite Marketing Pro — around 2013.
He was never really a network marketer. He was always drawn to the traffic side: the mechanics of getting strangers on the internet to stop, pay attention, and take action.
He dove into every paid traffic platform available — pop-up networks, Facebook ads, Google — learning direct response copywriting, audience psychology, and the architecture of a converting campaign from the ground up.
Tim Erway gave him two words early on that he still has written on a yellow sign above his computer today: be resourceful. He's never forgotten them.
By 2019, after years of running traffic for the AM community, Matt needed a change and took a detour back into corporate — this time running digital marketing for an insurance company. His KPI? Impressions. Not leads. Not sales. Just impressions.
He lasted about two years before a side experiment with YouTube ads changed everything.
He started running YouTube ads for ClickBank affiliate offers — supplements, VSLs, B-roll footage with AI voiceovers — and one day just let a campaign run without touching it.
He refreshed his stats all day and watched money keep coming in. Within 30 days: his first $100,000 profit month. Not revenue. Profit. He hadn't even been trying that hard.
The YouTube Ads Guy
From that moment, Matt went all in on YouTube. While everyone else stayed on Facebook, he quietly became one of the most skilled YouTube media buyers in the affiliate marketing space —building a team of media buyers and video editors, running eight-figure campaigns across industries from supplements to home services, and developing a philosophy around what actually makes someone stop before hitting the skip button.
His answer: the first five seconds are everything. Not 20%. Not 50%. More like 95%. Every word in those five seconds has to earn its place.

There's no filler. No fluff. No brand story nobody asked for. Just a hook so targeted and specific that the right person watching feels — for a split second — like the ad was made for them.
That skill — knowing exactly what to say, to whom, in the first breath of an ad — is the direct result of years of studying direct response copywriting, audience psychology, and the target market frameworks he first learned inside the AttractionMarketing.com community.
He still credits those foundational lessons as the backbone of everything he does now.
Today Matt runs seven-plus figures annually in affiliate marketing, consults on ad strategy for brands and entrepreneurs, and is one of the few practitioners who can reverse-engineer why an ad worked — and rebuild it when it doesn't.
From corporate dropout to 7-figure YouTube advertiser. The skill set that made it possible.
He built 55 blogs that went nowhere. Got fired before he could quit. Lost a month's rent to a client chargeback. And kept going anyway.
...and never have to spam strangers scripted messages
OR bug your friends and family ever again!
